Delete your Story Circle account and data

This page explains how to delete your Story Circle (developer: Code2B) account and the data linked to it. You can delete your account in two ways: right away in the app, or by emailing us if you no longer have the app.

Delete in the app (immediately)

  1. Open the Story Circle app and sign in.
  2. Tap Profile → Settings → Delete my account.
  3. Confirm it’s you: enter your password, or choose your Google account if you signed up with Google.
  4. Type your username to confirm and tap “Delete my account”.

There is no waiting period: your account is deleted the moment you confirm, and this cannot be undone.

No app? Request deletion by email

If you uninstalled the app or can’t sign in, you can send your deletion request by email.

  1. From the email address registered to your account, write to: sectioncritical@gmail.com
  2. Use the subject “Account deletion request” and include your username.
  3. To make sure the account is yours, we may send a confirmation email to your registered address; just reply to it.

We complete your request within 30 days and confirm the result to the same address. The deletion is the same as deleting in the app.

Data that is deleted

When your account is deleted, the following is permanently deleted:

  • Your account identity: email address, username, display name, bio, profile photo, password, Google/Apple link and date of birth (the account becomes an anonymous “Deleted user”; you can sign up again with the same email).
  • Your sessions, device and push notification records.
  • Your notifications, reading lists, reading history and saved positions, notes and quotes.
  • Your blocks (both directions), follows, likes, the ratings you gave and the reviews you wrote.
  • Your unpublished drafts, “notify me when free” requests and book invitations.
  • Your per-person usage records (the days you opened the app).

Data that is kept, and for how long

Some records are not deleted, either because they are part of a shared work or because the law and security require keeping them:

  • Your published chapters and comments stay as part of the shared book under the content license, shown as written by “Deleted user”.
  • Books you own stay published, with ownership passing to the platform.
  • Your Story Coin (SC) transactions and badges stay as records that carry no identity.
  • Moderation decisions and removed content are kept as the basis of the decision and for the legally required period.
  • Agreement consent records are kept for the limitation period, in case of disputes.
  • Session records (IP address, device name) are kept 1 year after the session ends, error logs up to 90 days, server logs up to 31 days, then deleted.

Delete some data without deleting your account

You can delete your notes, reading lists, ratings, likes and follows one by one in the app. To have other data deleted, write to the same email address; we reply within 30 days.
