One line
Story Circle is a mobile app in which a book is written not by one author but by a community: whoever locks an open chapter first writes it, and every submitted chapter passes an automatic content review before it goes live.
One paragraph
Story Circle is a collaborative book-writing app for Android. The person who creates a book writes its first chapter, defines the characters and sets the rules the story has to follow; from then on, any writer can take an open chapter by locking it, and the lock goes to whoever starts first — there is no queue and no turn order. A submitted chapter passes an automatic content review and then publishes on its own, without waiting for anyone’s approval. In branching books, several continuations can sit under the same chapter, so readers choose their own path and one book can end in more than one place. The app is free, carries no ads, and is developed by Code2B.
A longer description
Collaborative fiction usually breaks on coordination rather than on writing. Groups agree to take turns, and the book then waits on whoever is busy; or they vote, and turnout decays round by round; or they write in a shared document, and two people produce the same scene. Story Circle replaces all of that with a lock. A book is a tree of chapters, each chapter written by one author. Any chapter that has not been written yet is open, and the first person to start writing it holds it for a fixed number of hours. If they submit, the chapter goes to an automatic content review and publishes when it passes. If the lock expires, the chapter reopens to everyone and their draft stays with them.
Nothing in the loop requires a person to approve a person. Writers keep the copyright in their chapters, granting the platform only a non-exclusive licence to publish and promote them, and a published chapter cannot be removed unilaterally, because other authors write on top of it. Books can be linear or branching; branching books cap how many continuations a chapter may carry, so the tree stays readable and still converges on endings. Readers can use the app without writing a word: discovery, reading lists, per-book reading position, comments, and in branching books a road map of which paths and endings they have found.
Facts
Each line below is a single checkable statement about how the product works. Nothing here is a user count, a rating or a projection — the app has not launched, so there are none to give.
- A book on Story Circle is written by many authors. Each chapter has a single author, and the chapters of one book are written by different people.
- There is no queue, no turn order, no assignment and no vote. Whoever starts writing an open chapter first locks it.
- A lock lasts a fixed number of hours. If it expires, the chapter opens to everyone again and the text written so far stays with its author as a private draft.
- Every submitted chapter passes an automatic content review before publishing. No chapter is published without passing it.
- The review fails closed: if it cannot be completed, the chapter is not published, rather than defaulting to publish.
- A chapter that passes review publishes on its own. It does not wait for a moderator or for the book owner to approve it.
- Authors keep the copyright in the chapters they write. The platform receives only a non-exclusive licence to publish, list and promote them.
- In branching books, several continuations can sit under one chapter, up to a branch limit set by the person who created the book. Readers choose their own path, and one book can have several endings.
- Deleting an account permanently removes the account holder’s personal data, but published chapters and comments remain with the author name anonymised to “Deleted user” — deleting them would orphan the chapters written underneath.
- The app does not collect location, contacts, calendar, photo gallery or an advertising identifier. It asks only for internet access permission.
- A coin is an in-app unit. It is spent on creating a book, raising a book’s chapter target and exporting a book as a file, and it is earned by publishing chapters, signing in daily and reading. It has no real-money value, cannot be bought, cannot be transferred and cannot be refunded.
- The first release is for Android. The app is free to download and use, and there are no ads in it.
